quadrantOne, a local news site joint venture between several major newspaper giants, has been without a CEO for several months. In an unusual move, they are promoting the top sales executive to take over that role.
Mario Diez, who was named svp of national sales for quadrantOne in April, has been installed as the company’s CEO. Diez was previously vp of Aperture sales at Datran Media. Before that he spent three years as vp of Eastern Region sales at Centro.
Andy Ellenthal, the company’s previous CEO, left in April to joint the semantic ad firm Peer39.
quadrantOne was formed in 2008 as a means for newspaper companies to attract national brands and ad dollars to their local news sites. Members include The New York Times Company, The Tribune Company, Hearst Corp. and Gannett.
