It started out like any other exit interview of a longtime Senate leader. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, who announced his retirement after the end of this term on Friday, was on Nevada public radio station KNPR talking about his decision to leave when “a surprise caller” phones in.
“Go ahead, you’re on,” says the host.
“Harry, this is Barack,” says the caller.
“Well I’ll be damned,” Reid responds.
“Are you allowed to say that on live radio?”
“Well I’ll be damned.”
