Premier Retail Networks, a company that operates a digital network in more than 6,500 retail stores and supermarkets, has inked a content agreement with Associated Press. Through the agreement, announced Monday (June 2), the AP will provide news content on PRN’s CheckoutTV network, a network of 19,000 screens located at the check-out line. The content will be displayed as a scrolling ticker along the bottom of PRN’s multi-paneled eye-level screen.
AP joins a number of PRN content partners including NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, Discovery HD, Food Network, as well as other media properties and major studios.
“We strive to provide the most appropriate, targeted programming that meets the needs of retailers and shoppers alike, and offering this valuable news and information service will certainly enhance the in-store experience,” said Richard Fisher, president of PRN.
PRN’s network is in some of the largest retail chains: ACME, Albertsons, Best Buy, Carrerfour, Circuit City, Costco, Jewel-Osco, Pathmark, SAM’S Club, Shaw’s, ShopRite, Star Market and Wal-Mart.
