Okay, apologies to anyone who is offended by this: it’s all a bit of fun, we think.

St. John of Kanty/John Cantius is the patron saint of the unemployed, and his feast day is today!

The legend: John was disgraced as a professor in the 15th century and sent to a small town as punishment. Nobody trusted the city man, but he worked hard for eight years. When he was exonerated and brought back to his university, the people of the small town begged him to stay.
