Twenty-five years ago, Larry Burke and Don Welsh launched Outside. While spinoffs Outside Women and Outside Kids both folded shortly after launch, the pair is now banking on a new quarterly title that will be called Outside’s Go. (Presumably “Go” will be the main cover type and “Outside’s” will lend some credibility.)
According to the NY Post, Outside’s Go‘s (that’s awkward) subscribers will be 90 percent male, and in the 35-plus age bracket with quite a bit of expendible income. The magazine will start with a 200,000 rate base, and the first issue will be bagged with Outside.
Kent Black, who has written for Rolling Stone, Men’s Journal and Outside, has been named Editor in Chief. Look for the first issue (but don’t expect a celeb on the cover) in March.
Welsh’s last launch was Budget Living, which was on newsstands for nearly four years before it folded early this year.
