ONA Conference Will Live-Stream Spotlight Session

The moderator of the Saturday afternoon panel discussion is the film's co-writer, Josh Singer.

GoldDerbyBestPictureIn the midst of all that Saturday afternoon college football, some may want to make room Sept. 26 for a live stream from the Online News Association’s annual conference in Los Angeles.

Scheduled for 5 to 6 p.m. ET, the afternoon keynote session moderated by Spotlight co-writer Josh Singer will feature three current and one former member of the Boston Globe staff at the center of the movie. Joining Singer for the hour will be:

Walter V. Robinson, editor at large (played in Spotlight by Michael Keaton);
Michael Rezendes, senior investigative reporter (Mark Ruffalo);
Sacha Pfeiffer, reporter and columnist (Rachel McAdams);
Matt Carroll, now a research scientist at MIT’s Future of News Lab (Brian d’Arcy James).

On Twitter, Carroll describes himself as an “Ex-Boston Globe data geek.” As such, he might get a kick out of the fact that a group of Gold Derby journalist-experts twice the size of this weekend’s panel is currently picking Spotlight as their 2015 Oscars Best Picture favorite.

The ONA page for the Spotlight event has a handy widget that allows users to type in their email address in order to receive a reminder Saturday afternoon when the stream is about to start.
