In an effort to make a bloody situation useful, President Obama inserted two funny references to his lip injury into a speech he gave at his Kennedy Center Honoree Reception at the White House Sunday evening. He and singer Paul McCartney played off each other on the lip saga.

POTUS recalled how McCartney — in the WH earlier this year for another award — had song his famous love song “Michelle” to FLOTUS in the East Room.
