The hottest game for Android is now going to have content available just for NC owners to play in B&N stores.
Yesterday Barnes & Noble announced a deal with Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds, to offer NookColor owners a chance to get the Mighty Eagle character from the game. This character will only be available in B&N bookstores as part of the new game add-on, Angry Birds “Magic Places”.
“We are thrilled to partner with Rovio to bring NOOK Color customers in Barnes & Noble stores an exciting, seamless experience featuring the number one game in the world,” said Jamie Iannone, President of Digital Products, Barnes & Noble. “We’ve already experienced great success with NOOK Apps and Angry Birds as our bestseller, and believe NOOK Color customers will enjoy being the first in the world to access Angry Birds ‘Magic Places.”
NookColor owners will first need to buy the $3 Angry Birds app and then bring their NC to one of 700 B&N bookstores. While in store they will be offered the chance to update the app and add the character. They will also find an array of Angry Bird-themed games and stuffed animals. There will also be a limited supply of free Angry Birds stickers and temporary tattoos.
