New York Better Than New Yorker?

Well, how about that. Jon Friedman did a side by side comparison of New York and the New Yorker and came to the conclusion that New York is the better magazine. His feeling is that New York‘s recent Katie Couric interview signals editor Adam Moss‘ flair for picking “fascinating” pieces and “terrific covers”. However, “reading the New Yorker too often reminds me of the unhappy times when homework consisted of studying an earth-science textbook.” Ouch.

On the New Yorker side, per Friedman, David Remnick is still the better editor, Seymour Hersh is the New Yorker‘s ace in the hole and Ken Auletta is still the “champ” of New York media coverage.
