Some may recall Munro as the journalist who famously heckled President Obama in the Rose Garden in 2012. While the president was announcing changes to U.S. immigration policy, Munro shouted, “Why’d you favor foreigners over Americans?”
It is this outspoken quality that made Munro such an attractive hire for Breitbart, according to Breitbart News executive chairman Stephen K. Bannon.
“Neil understands the great issues of our times- immigration, the global rise of Islam, the threats to American sovereignty- and will be one of our leaders in reporting it,” said Bannon.
Munro, who immigrated from Ireland 25 years ago, will be sharing his directorship with Washington editor Rich Tucker.
“I am delighted to join Breitbart as it becomes the primary site where Americans can find the facts they need to regain the political and cultural power that has been centralized by the nation’s complacent, wealthy, and selfish establishment,” said Munro.
So there you have it.
