Luke Russert, son of the late moderator of NBC’s “Meet the Press” Tim Russert, is rumored to have earned a $500,000 bonus for joining the Sunday morning show as a regular panelist, a claim NBC has shot down.
It was first made by Washington Gadfly Evan Gahr, who quoted an anonymous source as saying, “The crew at NBC [meaning engineers and cameramen] have been talking about this since last week. There are no secrets in the building.”
Yesterday, NBC spokeswoman Erika Masonhall responded to The Daily Caller’s Betsy Rothstein, saying, “We don’t typically comment on contracts, but in this case we feel it’s warranted: This is absolutely untrue.”
The story was also covered today by the New York Post’s Page Six.
UPDATE: Luke Russert dismissed the rumors Wednesday, tweeting:
I don't usually respond to tabloid gossip but sometimes the record needs to be set straight. I have not gotten a single cent frm NBC for MTP
