NBC’s The Office has rolled out its latest original Web video project, a short-form series dubbed The Mentor.
The new show consists of four Webisodes depicting Office receptionist Erin as she endeavors to learn more about the accounting world. Erin ends up receiving tutelage from the famously stiff, and somewhat misguided Dunder Mifflin accountant Angela.
The Mentor is available on NBC.com, Hulu and several other sites. NBC has lined up Cisco, Verizon and Lowe’s as sponsors.
Besides the Webisodes, NBC.com is featuring a Mentor-related game (“Dress Up Erin”), as well as downloadable screensavers, blog posts and additional content. Plus, the show’s characters will broadcast messages about the show via Twitter.
The short-form series is the latest in a string of original Web content produced as a complement to The Office. Several seasons ago the show produced a series of Webisodes called “The Accountants.”
More recently, The Office produced an original Web storyline anchored by a comic music video titled “Subtle Sexuality.”
