Musicians Protest Tonic's Closure
Tonic, the storied and financially-strapped experimental music venue, may have closed, but it didn’t go quietly. A weekend protest/party/concert at the club left two musicians — pianist Rebecca Moore and guitarist Marc Ribot — behind bars. Supporters are holding press conference today at noon on the steps of City Hall “to ask for public and political intervention to protect new music/indie/avant/jazz in New York City.”
