McDonald’s has teamed up with PayPal to test a mobile payments service in France, according to a report from Reuters. The fast food chain also began training franchisees in the United States with its mobile payments platform, earlier this year, suggesting that the service may come to the U.S. soon as well.
Reuters has more: “A McDonald’s spokeswoman confirmed the France tests and said the PayPal demonstration at its conference was part of a booth that features ‘technology coming within the next 24 months or so.'”
Allowing for mobile payments at fast food restaurants is becoming more common these days. Starbucks lets customers make purchases using credits on a gift card through the company’s app. Last week, Dunkin’ Donuts launched a similar payment feature in the company’s new app. Burger King has also tested mobile payments.
