Business magazine publisher Mansueto Ventures, which has recently been rocked by layoffs and the abrupt departure of its CEO John Koten, announced a new, high-level hire and acquisition.
The parent of Inc. and Fast Company hired Bob LaPointe as president of Inc., a new position at the company; and acquired LaPointe’s company, Trendline Communications, a marketing services firm that helps companies sell to small businesses. Two other Trendline employees, Jon Feld and Melissa Stern, come with the sale.
LaPointe worked on the business side at Inc. until 2001, prior to its sale to Mansueto in 2005. In addition to serving as president of Inc., he’ll join Mansueto’s executive committee, which handles day-to-day operations at the company.
