People who know the entertainment biz are well aware that making it in Tinseltown means you understand the inside politics and well as the savvy social skills required to successfully navigate through Hollywood.
So it’s no surprise that there are oh-so-important rules even when it comes to lunch. However, those rules have been amended a bit as of late, with power players giving up their chic, expensive haunts in favor of cost-effective joints for a variety of reasons.
The LA Times unveils those reasons with the help of writer Nicole LaPorte (who has played the Hollywood game via reporting on the biz for Variety and her latest project, an ambitious book about DreamWorks for Houghton Mifflin).
LaPorte spills the beans on some new and old trends when it comes to industryite dining and she gets vet manager Bernie Brillstein on the record, giving his two cents on the latest money-saving meals: “I don’t think lunch is as much of a ritual anymore. I think it’s lessened over the years. Agencies and studios and networks are so much more cost-conscious. A lot of them say, ‘Why do we have an office if you have to go to a restaurant?'”
