Who better than to talk to about the future of technology than the guy in charge of how a lot of your stuff functions: Intel head Paul Otellini, who is interviewed in this new piece over at Forbes. He talks a bit about the company, which is kinda interesting, but the meat comes when he starts predicting and planning, like here about how to work with more powerful phone devices:
….As you move towards system on a chip, particularly in ultra-small devices, different customers will have different requirements for what’s on the chip. We may have to do derivative versions or semi-custom versions–and create ways customers can exploit their own intellectual property. We do some of this today in packaging. And in some areas of consumer electronics we’re building system on chips for certain classes of devices such as set-top box makers.
