Yesterday the Indonesian National Education Minister Muhammad Nuh announced Sabak BUBO, Indonesia’s new educational platform for primary and secondary students. It was developed in partnership with Balai Pustaka, a state-owned publisher and printing company, and the launch was timed to coincide with the celebration of National Education Day.
Sabak BUBO is intended to run on PCs and Android, and yesterday’s demo was running on a tablet. it contained all the textbooks for a primary schools student. it is hoped that all students would use Sabak BUBO in the next three to five years, and that the cost of developing and distributing the platform will be covered by reduced textbook purchases.
