Janice Min Announces Five Promotions, Nine More Hires

An internal memo dispatched today by Hollywood Reporter editorial director Janice Min ranks as the most impressive documentation yet of the good HR things happening at the Guggenheim Digital Media property. Simply because of the sheer number of staffers involved. Min, after noting that May 2013 was the best traffic month so far for the re-imagined trade's website, highlights the promotion of five staffers and the addition of nine more. PROMOTIONS - Jeanie Pyun, features director (pictured, right): "While Jeanie is not new to THR - she came to us in January 2012 for what was supposed to be a temporary stint - we can now make it official. With her calm, unflappable demeanor and her skillful editing of stories, lists, packages and generally anything that's thrown at her, Jeanie has quickly become indispensable in producing the magazine." - Lacey Rose, television editor: "Lacey joined The Hollywood Reporter as a senior TV writer in February 2011, coming from Forbes, and since then has become one of the top television writers in the business, and certainly the most prolific." - Marisa Guthrie, television editor, east coast (pictured, bottom): "Marisa's recent cover story on 60 Minutes is a terrific example of what she does best: insightful and revealing storytelling... Oh, and by the way, she just got married. Not that she told anyone. So now you know. Congrats Marisa." - Borys Kit and Pam McClintock (pictured, left), promoted to senior film writers: "Borys is on a roll, just in the last few weeks breaking news on Johnny Depp's salary dispute for the Whitey Bulger biopic, Carey Mulligan's withdrawal from consideration to play Hillary Clinton and Steven Spielberg's next project (American Sniper). Pam, meanwhile, is a machine, cranking out smart box office day in and out. At Cannes, Pam delivered a unique perspective on trends and features that turned into some of the most insightful pieces at the festival. Her animation story in the current issue ("Summer's Brutal Animation War") delivers revealing interviews with everyone from Jeffrey Katzenberg to Alan Horn, all while smartly highlighting the possible windfall - and worries - that come with Hollywood's cartoon glut. " ADDITIONS - Nicole Breanne, social media editor of THR.com (starting June 24): "She comes from NBCUniversal, where she was community manager, overseeing the social media presence of many of the stars of NBC shows." - Hilary Lewis, staff editor for THR.com (New York): "She comes to us from NYPost.com, where she spent the last six years covering the business side of the entertainment industry." - Pete Keeley, online copy chief: "He returns to THR after a three-year stint at sister publication Backstage, where he was senior research editor. Before joining Backstage, Pete was a THR copy editor in the features department." - Kyleen James, photo editor: "She officially joined the staff a few weeks ago. Kyleen graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2010 with a degree in Advertising Photography, and worked in New York City on magazine shoots for Vogue, the New Yorker, New York, GQ and others. She started as a freelance photo editor for THR.com in 2011." - Daniel Reynosa, Web producer THR.com: "He started at THR as an intern for the Hollywood Creative Directory in 2010, while he was studying filmmaking at Cal State University, Northridge." - Jennifer Rzepka, art production associate: "For the last three years Jennifer has freelanced as a designer for print, iPad and marketing with such clients as Robb Report, Film Independent and the Jewish Federation of LA. Prior to that, she was an art director for Variety, Video Business and 411 Publishing." - Kayt Fitzmorris, assistant photo editor: "Kayt is responsible for stock photo research for print as well as iPad pages. Previously she was the operations manager at a photographer's agency, DSREPS." - Brandon Kirby, editorial assistant to Matthew Belloni and Degen Pener: "Brandon joined THR as an editorial intern immediately after graduating Michigan State University with a journalism degree in 2012... His first and most memorable assignment was the To Rome with Love premiere at last year's L.A. Film Fest – not too shabby for a former tuba player in the Spartan Marching Band!" - Stephanie Fischette, video producer: "She has a diverse background as a producer, having worked at organizations such as Digitas, Mubi, Tribeca Film Festival and Abu Dhabi Film Festival."
