Hackers Steal Consumer Data at Jimmy John’s Sandwich Shop

Latest chain under attack

Jimmy John's sandwich chain has become the latest victim of hackers, joining  a growing epidemic of financial attacks against consumers.

Hackers targeted the Illinois sandwich shop, with 261 locations, between June 16 and Sept. 15, according to initial reports from WGN-TV. The data breach targeted consumers' credit and debit cards.

The company said it has installed encrypted credit card readers to upgrade security since the attacks.

There has been a wave of similar breaches at major retailers in the past year, including Target, Home Depot, Neiman Marcus and Michaels.
