Greta Forgets Her Social Ps and Qs

Next week’s toast to HuffPost’s Arianna Huffington could have an awkward moment or two, especially with feisty FNC’s Greta Van Susteren playing party host. The party is in honor of Huffington’s new book, Third World America.

After Van Susteren canceled an appearance by possibly the most famous journalist of our time, Bob Woodward, last week, HuffPost declared in a story that she had angrily canceled the interview because she was annoyed at Simon & Shuster, publisher of Woodward’s Obama Wars, for declining her request to interview Woodward. Greta lobbed back: “The Huffington Post is delusional.”  (Greta will see the “delusional” HuffPost’s Editor-in-Chief at the party next week.) She called the story “sloppy.” She said HuffPost, whose story had no byline, had “made up” the story.

Greta’s excuse for canceling Woodward: “The truth?” she wrote on her Gretawire blog Saturday.  “I was simply doing my job and insisting to the publisher that I must actually read a book before I do an interview.  It is that simple.  No anger…just doing my job.”

Six paragraphs later, Greta insists she’s not angry. REPEAT – NOT ANGRYGreta: “No….I am amused by it.   LET ME REPEAT: I AM AMUSED…I AM NOT ANGRY at the Huffington Post for being dopey!  No one dies from dopey postings !”
