As such, you’ll want to stay tuned to the retailer’s Facebook page in upcoming weeks. A component will roll out there in May when the department store announces additional aspects of this Brazil-centered campaign happening throughout the spring and early summer.
As part of the Earth Day partnership, Macy’s is launching a curated shop it’s calling “O Mercado, the Market at Macy’s” on April 22 at 300 select stores nationwide and on its website.
In conjunction with the partnership, Macy’s will donate 10 percent of the price of products sold in the specialty shops to the conservancy to support its efforts to protect the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest.
Each specialty-shop-within-a-department-store will feature 100-plus exclusive, limited edition items starting at $5 set to evoke the feel and flare of Brazil. Many of the goods cannot be purchased outside of Brazil.
Items include fashions by Isabela Capeto, one of Brazil’s most talented young designers; decorative arts by the arts-and-crafts initiative Ecoarts; handcrafted costume and fashion jewelry and handbags made with indigenous fibrous materials by Art da Terra, and the 200-year-old traditional ribbon bracelets known as Brazilets, which originate from Bahia, Brazil.
“Brazil’s burgeoning international appeal and enchanting culture inspired us to create a unique shopping environment that will bring even more newness, color and excitement to our store,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer.
