Education Week Adds Kavitha Cardoza

She'll work on television and video projects.

Kavitha Cardoza is joining Education Week as a correspondent contributing to the publication’s video and television projects.

Cardoza is currently an education reporter for WAMU, where she has been since 2008, covering issues that have included a look into Washington’s dropout crisis, school testing, teacher evaluations and student mental health.

When she joins Education Week on Aug. 1, Cardoza, in addition to working on Education Week’s digital video efforts, will contribute to an ongoing collaboration between the publication and PBS NewsHour for NewsHour’s Making the Grade series.

“Kavitha Cardoza appreciates that covering education is a way to understand so much about what is happening in our communities—far beyond the classroom doors,” said NewsHour svp and executive producer Sara Just in a statement. “All of us at the NewsHour have been admirers of the work that Kavitha has been doing on public radio covering education here in the Washington region, and we are looking forward to working with her as she expands her scope to the whole country.”

Along with the collaboration with NewsHour, Education Week has been expanding its focus on video since last August, when it acquired video production company Learning Matters.
