Clive Crook has been appointed Chief Washington Columnist and Associate Editor for the Financial Times. Clive’s weekly column will focus on political and economic issues as well as other public policy matters. Since 2005 Clive has worked for the Atlantic Media Company in Washington, DC as well as a columnist for the National Journal. He was deputy editor at The Economist for 12 years and has also served as a consultant to the World Bank and worked as an official in the British Treasury. Crook commented: “I have always admired the FT. To be joining this team of world-class commentators and reporters feels like climbing to the summit of my profession.” Lionel Barber, Editor of the Financial Times, said, “Clive is a trenchant commentator with a superb range. He is widely regarded as one of the best journalists of his generation; I’m enormously pleased to have him onboard.” Clive’s column will commence the week of April 23 and will be available worldwide in all editions of the Financial Times newspaper, and online at http://www.ft.com .
