Civil War Expert Gabor Borrit in WSJ on Gettysburg Address

Gabor Borrit has a fascinating piece in the WSJ OpinionJournal about the hand-written versions of the Gettysburg address. (Sunday is the anniverary of the speech.) Borrit is a professor of history, but he’s also the best-known Civil War advisor to film-makers. Ron Maxwell, director of Gettysburg and Gods and Generals had spoken with FBLA awhile back about working with Borrit, and the importance of historical accuracy:

The audience will know something is wrong if the historical details aren’t right.

Borrit confided that he’d never realized how boring movie-making could be and wished he’d brought a book. Maxwell cast him as an extra, but Borrit claims to not wish for stardom. That’s what they all say.
