Residents in the neighborhoods surrounding Marina del Rey will have a new high-end movie theater complex starting in May 2014.
Cinemark Holdings is building a nine-screen theater in nearby Playa Vista, according to The Hollywood Reporter:
The cineplex will offer VIP seating in several auditoriums, RealD 3D capability, self-serve concession stands and an open plaza that will include a cocktail lounge. In a bid to win premieres business, the NextGen theater will include a large Cinemark XD auditorium that will have a 72-foot, wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-floor screen, [James] Meredith said.
Construction is expected to begin in the fall. The movie theater is part of a $270 million developmental project adjacent to Jefferson Boulevard that will include retailers, restaurants and housing.
