Chris Christie wants to close the door on Bridgegate, the 2013 George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal in which Christie friends/officials were indicted but Christie himself was cleared, at least legally. In an interview with guest anchor Shannon Bream on Fox News Sunday yesterday, Christie felt the press owed him an apology:
And you know what happens when the media, Shannon, gets crazy over a story, like they got crazy over Bridgegate and were convicting me the day afterwards of heinous acts. Now, when they realize that there’s no truth to what they said, now they say, “Oh, he didn’t do anything, but he created an atmosphere.”
Well, you know, that’s what the liberal media does when, rather than saying “I’m sorry,” which is what they should say.
Christie doubled down on that request today when he went on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, claiming he had not only been “accused” but also “convicted” by the media.
This isn’t the first time Christie has asked the media to apologize over Bridgegate, making that same request in a May 21 CNBC appearance.
