Presidential candidates are using social media to send their condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of Alison Parker and Adam Ward, a reporter and a photographer from WDBJ in Roanoke, Va., who were shot and killed earlier today during a live broadcast.
Hillary Clinton, Ted Cruz, Dr. Ben Carson, and other candidates took to social media to voice their sadness and shock at the shooting, which left a third woman wounded. Local Chamber of Commerce representative Vicki Gardner was being interviewed at the time about a development project in Moneta, Va. She is in stable condition after undergoing surgery.
Heartbroken and angry. We must act to stop gun violence, and we cannot wait any longer. Praying for the victims’ families in Virginia. -H

The suspected killer, Vester Lee Flanagan, is a former employee of WDBJ. TVSpy reports Flanagan, who went by the name Bryce Williams as an on-air reporter, was fired in 2013. He shot himself after fleeing the scene. Flanagan/Williams actually recorded the murders and posted two videos of the crime on Facebook. He also posted about it from his Twitter account. Facebook has since removed the videos and Twitter suspended the account.
