The full release after the jump… today unveiled Campus Politico, a new web page dedicated to young voters.

Campus Politico will follow the issues of particular importance to the under-30 crowd; track polling of this vital demographic; look at which campaigns are targeting young voters, how they’re doing it, and if it’s working; and explore the youth trends that will impact the 2008 election, as they develop.

The new web page will also highlight the latest news from young reporters around the country through partnerships with college newspapers. The newspapers of Brandeis, Cornell, DePaul, New York University, Northwestern, Berkeley, the University of Iowa, the University of Virginia, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh and Vanderbilt were the first to sign on as 2008 Campus Politico partners.

“The battle for the youth vote of 2008 is an important component of the coming elections,” said Danielle Jones, Politico’s managing editor of special projects. “Campus Politico will be the go-to site for everything about this vital voting bloc, as well as a showcase for student journalists from college papers around the country.”

Readers will be invited to participate in Politico’s social networking sites to chat with other Politico junkies and they will be encouraged to submit editorials to appear online and in the Politico newspaper.

Campus Politico will also participate in a number of college events across the country, including a campus tour with the ONE campaign to moderate discussions with students and political leaders for the ONE Student | ONE Vote event at the University of Central Arkansas, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Washington.
