Blender Poaches Exec From VH1

Big hire at Blender. Julien McNab has been named as Executive Editor and Producer of Blender.com — which has a load of ramifications.

  • Over the past year, Blender and brother mag Maxim have been working in overtime to overhaul their web content and ramp up new online projects.

  • Before joining Blender/Alpha Media, McNab was a Senior Producer at VH1/MTV Networks and was pretty much responsible for overseeing VH1.com’s Music, Movies and Classics sites. With Michael Hirschorn‘s departure, this marks VH1’s second major loss this week.

  • McNab first made a name for himself as Interactive Programming Producer at FUSE/muchmusic usa/Cablevision. He oversaw Fuse’s show Dedicate Live and played a large part in turning the spunky cable music network into a viable MTV competitor. Also: It gave the guy some major talent when it comes to interactive web music projects. If Blender ever gets into the television game, it could make things… interesting.

Official press release after the jump.
