Theme-ing mobile devices was a hot topic about a decade ago. Its purpose was to completely customize the look of all kinds of interface aspects including colors, fonts, menus, icons, backgrounds, and sound effects. Most of the major platforms today let end-users customize a few things like background color (Windows Phone), screen background (iPhone) or animated backgrounds (Android). RIM’s BlackBerry, however, appears to be old school in this regard and lets its users modify nearly everything. RIM just released a new version of a tool to let BlackBerry users customize backgrounds, sound effects and ringtones, icons, menus, fonts, and add animations and screen transitions.
BlackBerry Theme Studio 6 is available for free and runs on PCs using Microsoft Windows.
