Over at truthdig, Robert Scheer’s web-home-in-exile, Larry Gross digs into ‘Brokeback Mountain.’ (Seriously, the byline reads “a Dig led by Larry Gross, and I’d say that this isn’t a great choice of controlling metaphor, but then again, people in fishbowls should probably keep their mouths shut.) Gross’s point is that within the context of Hollywood, the movie’s approach to gayness is neither all that fresh nor all that daring. Of particular note is his analysis of the wide-eyed media response (for the most part) to the movie.
For the record, we enjoyed ‘Brokeback,’ but we wish it had been about bloggers instead of cowboys.
