The Velaslavasay Panorama presents Russell Potter for an Evening of Arctic Novelty. His new book, Arctic Spectacles: The Frozen North in Visual Culture 1818-1875, will be discussed along with a charismatic oratory focusing on the fascinating and ultimately tragic Franklin expedition of 1845.
There will be refreshments reminiscent of the time period and, reproduced from the historical record, items these intrepid explorers might have enjoyed on their voyages, all serving to bring this extraordinary time of discovery to life.
(Blubber? Can’t wait!)
Friday, January 4 and Saturday, January 5th at 8:00 pm.
The Velaslavasay Panorama, located at 1122 West 24th Street Los Angeles, CA 90007, is one of the more unusual LA attractions. The Velaslavasay Panorama Enthusiast Society is dedicated to the production and presentation of unusual visual experiences, including panoramic paintings akin to those of the 18th and 19th centuries.
