On the heels of Bob Woodward‘s much-hyped State of Denial comes another Woodward book Woodward and Bernstein: Life in the Shadow of Watergate this one by Alicia Shepard, due in early November.
Shepard researched and wrote the book, which “examines the private and public lives of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein,” over four years and more than 175 interviews conudted with Woodward’s and Bernstein’s close friends, family members and colleagues. She was also given access to 75 boxes of notes from source interviews, letters, tape recordings, divorce papers and other Watergate research materials currently on display at the University of Texas.
It will be interesting to see if this book suffers from Woodward burnout. Given the media’s fawning over Denial, it wouldn’t be surprising.
