Android Gingerbread (OS 2.3) for Nexus One & The Deathly Hallows Part 1: Where's Part 2?

Google, the master of mashups, decided to mash up two big news items to create their own little splashy bit of mobile news. Apple made a huge (delayed) splash yesterday by finally releasing iOS 4.2 for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Over the past weekend, Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part I took command of movie box offices. Google mashed up those two ideas by releasing only half of the much anticipated Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Nexus One.

You can see the “Android Update (Part 1 of 2)” for an unspecified version update in the screen photo above.

This was followed by another update notice after a reboot. However, installing this update did NOT result in a Nexus One running Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread). The Nexus One is still at version 2.2.1 after the two part update. I guess I have to wait for “Android Update (Part 2 of 2)” now. So, I’m renaming “Gingerbread” to “The Deathly Hallows” update. 🙂
