Nominations for the 27th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards were announced today. Alexandria-based PBS led with 33 nods. Discovery and several of its channels including Animal Planet and Discovery Channel — earned nine nominations. National Geographic received eight.
Not surprisingly, Hurricane Katrina, Iraq and the war on terror were popular topics. Meet the Press and This Week each snagged a nod for Outstanding Interview; Tim Russert for his work on Hurricane Katrina and George Stephanopoulos for his interview with L.
