All of Trump’s Tweeted Insults in One NYT Collection

From "Sad!" to "really sad" to "DISASTER."

We can’t imagine that this was an enjoyable project for the Times’ Jasmine C. Lee and Kevin Quealy, this cataloguing of Donald Trump’s many, many insults delivered by tweet, which the pair, with reporting help from Jeremy B. Merrill, have been working on since the beginning of this year.

The range of tweets goes back further than that, covering the full length of his candidacy, with more recent tweets highlighted in green.

It’s an ever-expanding universe of insults, and the targets of Trump’s displeasure have grown recently to include Donna Brazile, the 2016 election and Alec Baldwin, among others. The current count of people, things (a podium?), publications and programs insulted stands at 281. In print terms, they take up a full two-page spread in The New York Times, published today.

If you’re wondering about the timing of the print version, this is what Tom Jolly, NYT’s associate masthead editor, told Yahoo News:

We’ve been building out the digital presentation for months and always intended to publish it in print, but we wanted to give the fullest representation of the tweets, which amount to public statements, and to find an appropriate moment. The period after the debates seemed like the right time for both parts of that equation.
