An adaption of former FishbowlDC and Washingtonian editor Garrett Graff’s forthcoming book with Simon & Schuster, Raven Rock: The Inside Story Of The U.S. Government’s Secret Plan To Save Itself – While The Rest Of Us Die, may soon find its way onto the small screen. NBC is said to be moving forward with a pilot script option, a precursor to the filming of a pilot in early 2015, which can lead to it becoming an official NBC series.

According to Deadline.com, writers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia’s new project – Raven Rock – “has landed at NBC in a script deal with significant penalty.”

“I’m thrilled to see NBC so excited about RAVEN ROCK. Stunned, really,” Graff told FishbowlDC. “But the project’s got an awesome team behind it—Robert Zemeckis, Bob Cooper, Tom Patricia, and others—and I’ve really enjoyed talking with them over the last few months as this developed. As a journalist, it’s been especially fun so far batting ideas around with the two script writers, Matthew and Stephen, and discussing how my nonfiction book on Cold War history transforms into a fictional modern-day TV drama.”

Raven Rock referes to a mountain complex on the Maryland border with “a massive, classified, underground military installation in Pennsylvania (one of several secret military bunkers), which will serve as the central command post for the U.S. government in the wake of a nuclear attack,” per Deadline.

In July, Graff joined POLITICO Magazine as a senior staff writer.
