Get out the Red Bull. You’re going to need it. That, or a frying pan over the head. Hard.
WJLA has named Joe DeFeo the new News Director for News Channel 8. But the real tragedy here is that the press release announcing this presumably exciting news is, at best, blah. “DeFeo’s extensive knowledge of the DC market made him an ideal candidate to lead news operations for Allbritton Communication’s hyper-local cable station,” the release states.
More blah blah blah…“DeFeo has spent more than 30 years working in the DC region as a manager, producer, award-winning journalist and audience development specialist. He spent seven years as the Vice President for News for the Sinclair Broadcast Group; and worked as for over nine years as the News Director at WBFF in Baltimore.
And now VP of News Bill Lord provides classic canned comments: “Joe will bring great experience and expertise to our management team” says Lord. Thank God a graph later we get additional blah on DeFeo when Lord adds, “We are expecting big things from News Channel 8 and we believe we have found the right person to lead the charge.”
More random blah praise for DeFeo from the release…“He possesses a wealth of leadership experience and hands-on knowledge of television production. He will also be able to utilize his experience as a media consultant to increase viewership for News Channel 8.”
DeFeo starts on July 25th.
