Wells Fargo Hispanic Account in Play

NEW YORK Wells Fargo has placed its Hispanic advertising account in review, according to sources.

The process is being conducted by Santa Monica, Calif.-based consulting firm Select Resources International.

It is not clear if incumbent Anita Santiago, which has handled the account for the San Francisco-based financial services company since 1993, will defend. The shop, also in Santa Monica, declined comment. Client officials were not immediately available.

Agencies in California, Texas and other Southwestern states are preferred, per sources.

According to TNS Media Intelligence, Wells Fargo spent less than $1 million in Spanish-language media in 2005 and $95 million in general market media. Omnicom Group-owned DDB in Los Angeles handles mainstream advertising for the client.
