Venables, Bell Garners Most WIN Nominations

NEW YORK Venables, Bell & Partners tops the list of semifinalists for the first annual Women’s Image Network advertising awards, according to WIN.

The WIN awards honor advertising created by at least one woman. Submissions created by men that show women in a positive light were also considered.

With 13 nominations for its animated Napster campaign and ads for Siebel Systems and Bell Sports, the San Francisco agency bested Wieden + Kennedy of Portland, Ore., and New York, which placed second with 12 nominations for Nike, Powerade, ESPN, AOL and Miller Brewing Co.

About 150 entries were submitted to the competition, WIN said.

“I thought there was a lot of really terrific work,” said jury chairman Liz Paradise, creative director at McKinney + Silver in Raleigh, N.C.

While this is the first advertising show WIN has produced, the group has given out similar honors to the film and TV industries since 1993.

The top three winners, including the best in show, or Grand Hectate, will be named during a ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.
