St. Vincent Selects 5 Finalists

St. Vincent Hospitals and Health Services in Indianapolis will hear presentations next week from the five local agencies chosen as finalists for its estimated $3-5 million account.
Asked to make strategic presentations were incumbent Pearson, Crahan, Fletcher, England and four challengers: Bates USA Midwest, Caldwell VanRiper, EvansGroup and Young & Laramore.
A decision is expected soon after the presentations, which are set for June 15-16, according to a representative for the healthcare organization.
Other agencies that had been considered in the review, according to St. Vincent, included Doe-Anderson Advertising in Louisville, Ky., and Indianapolis shops Ashley & Associates, Communico, CRE MARCOM, Majestic Group, Miller Brooks and Montgomery Zukerman Davis. Sturm Rosenberg King in Chicago and BVK/McDonald in Milwaukee, both major healthcare shops, had responded to requests for credentials but subsequently withdrew from the review.
The selected agency will handle one of the largest healthcare operations in Indiana. St. Vincent operates hospitals in Indianapolis, Elwood and Williamsport, Ind. In February, it announced plans to form an integrated health system with St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center in Kokomo, Ind.
Both the St. Vincent and St. Joseph operations are units of the St. Louis-based Daughters of Charity National Health System, which reported total revenues of $5.7 billion in 1997.
