Sony Cuts Arnold Before Presentations

BOSTON Sony Electronics has cut Havas’ Arnold from the review for its estimated $100-125 million ad account because of its newly formed relationship with RadioShack, according to sources.

An agency representative confirmed the Boston-based agency was cut before final presentations, which will take place in two weeks. The rep declined to discuss why Arnold was cut loose.

A client representative declined comment late Monday.

Scheduled to give final presentations to Sony are McKinney + Silver in Durham, N.C., Fallon in Minneapolis and the team of Saatchi & Saatchi in New York and Team One in El Segundo, Calif., sources said [Adweek Online, April 19]. McKinney is a unit of Havas, the others are owned by Publicis Groupe.

The incumbent was WPP Group’s Young & Rubicam in Irvine, Calif.

Select Resources International in Santa Monica, Calif., is overseeing the search.
