NEW YORK Publicis Groupe’s Starcom MediaVest Group has restructured GM Planworks and tapped Ken Taylor to succeed Dennis Donlin as president and general manager of the unit, which plans and buys ad time for General Motors, the agency has confirmed.
GM Planworks is being integrated into the SMG operation. Since its formation in 2000, Planwonks has been a stand-alone unit. A new name is being considered for the operation as well; possibly, GM Inside SMG, per sources.
The restructuring is designed to give Planworks broader access to all of SMG’s resources. “The independent GM Planworks model was the right response to the marketplace realities we faced with GM in 2000,” said Laura Desmond, CEO, The Americas at SMG in a statement. “That landscape, both in our industry and the automotive industry, is different today, and it continues to shift.
