Robaire, Hogshead Form Creative Shop

With Martin Creative LA closing its doors last week, creative director Jean Robaire and copywriter Sally Hogshead have decided to form a new creative partnership in Los Angeles.
The creative boutique, known simply as Robaire and Hogshead, opens today. The pair will offer their services on a project basis to agencies and clients nationwide, in addition to pitching new business on their own, according to Robaire.
“We wanted to have our independence and call the shots, while working with shops that excite us and want what we have to offer,” Robaire said. “We wanted to be able to offer A-level service without A-level overhead.”
Robaire and Hogshead began working as a team in September 1996 when Richmond, Va.-based The Martin Agency opened the creative satellite Martin Creative LA. Martin folded the Santa Monica, Calif., office due to financial difficulties. The West Coast outpost had no accounts of its own.
Robaire and Hogshead have retained creative duties for one Martin client, Remy Martin Cognac, according to Hogshead. Although they did not create Remy’s current campaign, Robaire and Hogshead are now in production on a new trade campaign and are developing new consumer work for the client, Hogshead said.
Before joining Martin, Robaire had worked as a creative consultant for a year. He had previously served as a principal at Los Angeles-based Stein Robaire Helm, which handled such clients as Ikea and Southern California Acura dealers.
Award-winning copywriter Hogshead joined Martin from Fallon McElligott Berlin in New York, where she worked on BMW Motorcycles and Nikon.
