Palisades Media Installs Dennler as President

LOS ANGELES Bruce Dennler has been named president and chief operating officer of Palisades Media Group, according to the media agency.

Dennler will be based at the Santa Monica, Calif., headquarters and report to founder Roger Schaffner, who relinquishes the presidency and becomes chairman.

Schaffner said PMG is poised to grow in general-market categories. “We continue to fight ‘bigger is better,’ ” he said. “We’ve got to give Bruce the same tools but be more nimble in their use. He’s got what I’m missing: I’m entertainment, he fills in all the gaps.”

Schaffner said Dennler “shares this vision, but possesses significant strength in the general market and is one of the best media planners around today.”

Schaffner said that in addition to Linda Perry, senior vice president of business development who joined the firm from Viacom two weeks ago, PMG plans to add research and beef up planning in the near future. Though the “core constituency” of PMG will continue to be the entertainment business, Schaffner said growth has to come in packaged goods, automotive and finance.

Dennler was most recently the interim president of Aegis Group’s Carat USA, where he was an executive vice president and director of planning for clients such as Procter & Gamble, Hyundai, Nestle, AT&T, Jack in the Box and Kia Motors America. He had previously been in charge of Carat Tool development in North America.

He started as a planner at Grey and later joined McCann Erickson, both in New York. He was at MBS, New York, and ICG, San Francisco, before the independents were merged into Carat.
