Mike Buchner, chief operating officer at Fallon and a 27-year veteran there, has been named CEO, effective June 1.
He succeeds Chris Foster, who is joining Publicis Groupe sibling Saatchi & Saatchi Asia Pacific as chairman and regional CEO. Foster assumed his Fallon role three years ago after working as an evp, global equity director at S&S in New York. At Saatchi, he had led efforts across Procter & Gamble’s global portfolio of laundry and household products such as Ariel, Cascade, and Tide. Previously, he had also served as gm of international accounts for Saatchi’s Asia-Pacific region and as CEO of the agency’s operations in Hong Kong and Japan.
Buchner joined Fallon after graduation from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism with a master’s degree in advertising. At the agency, he has served as director of account management and general manager, in addition to his most recent role.
Both Fallon and Saatchi are units of Publicis Groupe and are operated under the SSF Group moniker, an alliance created in 2007 to help fuel growth for Fallon and provide leadership for Saatchi in the U.K. Saatchi worldwide chairman Kevin Roberts oversees SSF.
