Lindsay Pattison, CEO of Maxus in the U.K., is the new global chief of the WPP Group shop.
Pattison replaces Vikram Sakhuja, who will remain in an undisclosed position within GroupM, the WPP division that oversees the company's media agencies. The London-based Pattison will divide her time between the U.K. and New York.
The global changes comes five months after the agency recruited PHD's Steve Williams to succeed Louis Jones as North American CEO.
In making the appointment, Maxus credited Pattison, in the top U.K. job for five years, with growing the region to the seventh-largest media player from No. 14 and increasing staff to 250 from 30 people. She also held the global chief strategy officer role for the last two years, with oversight of product, planning, marketing and new business.
In the U.K., Pattison will be succeeded as CEO by Nick Baughan, currently managing director.
Maxus, launched in 2008, operates in 55 countries with a mix of regional and international clients, including BT in the U.K., Tata in India, L’Oreal, GSK, Barclays, UPS and Church and Dwight.
In 2012 the agency was named Adweek’s U.S. Agency of the Year after winning a share of NBCUniversal’s U.S. business, global S.C. Johnson work and Barclays Bank while expanding its relationship with Bausch + Lomb. In North America, the agency has offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York and Toronto.
