H&R Block Lines Up for Third Super Bowl

NEW YORK Campbell Mithun will tout H&R Block Advantage Service in the company’s third straight Super Bowl spot.

The Kansas City, Mo., financial services company will run a 30-second spot in the game’s first quarter and has also agreed to a pre-game sponsorship package. The firm and its Minneapolis agency declined to give information about the spot’s creative or the financial terms of the media buy.

In the last Super Bowl, the company ran an ad featuring Willie Nelson. The spot played on the country music icon’s well-publicized tax troubles with a fake commercial-within-a-commercial featuring the bearded Nelson hawking a shaving cream. In 2002, H&R tapped the Coen Brothers for a gloomy spot set to the Beatles’ tune Taxman.
