Fleishman-Hillard Wins Circuit City PR

BOSTON Circuit City has awarded its public relations account to Omnicom Group’s Fleishman-Hillard following a review, the client said on Wednesday.

The Washington, D.C.-based shop was selected after a review. The other finalists were WPP Group’s Ogilvy PR in D.C.; and independents Stanton Crenshaw Communications in New York and Carter Ryley Thomas in Richmond, Va., according to a client representative.

Interpublic Group’s Weber Shandwick in New York had handled the business but did not participate in the competition.

Sources pegged the PR budget for the Richmond-based client at $1 million.

Contending for Circuit City’s $150 million broadcast creative account are independents The Richards Group in Dallas and Doner in Southfield, Mich.; Interpublic Group’s McCann Erickson in New York and The Martin Agency in Richmond; and Grey Global Group’s Grey in New York. The incumbent, IPG’s Foote Cone & Belding in Chicago, is being evaluated separately from the other contenders.
